Peptide safety

If you are considering a peptide, or already have one, a little more information is a sensible first step.

Start with what you have

Online advice cannot verify what is in a vial, whether it is sterile or how it might affect you. The safest next step with an unverified product is to avoid using it.

For a prescribed medicine, follow the instructions for that exact product. Make sure its preparation method, device, storage and disposal requirements are clear before going ahead.

Your safety checklist

0 / 4
checked

Use this to keep track of the basics. Your health, allergies and other medicines still matter; this checklist cannot assess personal risk.

Tick the checks you have completed. Completing this list is not clearance to use a product.

Your answers stay on this page. Nothing is saved or sent.

Keep the information.

Keep the original packaging, ingredient list and source details together. A clear photo makes them easier to refer back to, but does not prove what is in the vial.

Look at the whole picture.

Read the potential benefits alongside the evidence, side effects and interactions. A promising story says little about how a product could affect your own health or other medicines.

Don’t guess the instructions.

Do not infer a dose, dilution or storage requirement from a product code. If the verified instructions are missing or unclear, stop. A generic mixing chart cannot establish the right method.

Where to get help

For a medical emergency, including severe breathing difficulty or collapse, call 111.

For non-emergency health advice, call Healthline: 0800 611 116. Tell the health professional what you took and when, and keep the packaging.

Safety questions

Why isn’t there a dosage calculator?

A calculator can do arithmetic, but cannot confirm the contents, strength, sterility or suitability of a product. Presenting a calculated dose for an unverified product could give false confidence. Follow the verified instructions for the exact prescribed product.

Can I follow a protocol from a podcast or online group?

A protocol cannot account for your health, medicines or the exact product. Treat it as someone else’s experience or opinion, not instructions for your own product.

What if the label says “research purposes only”?

That does not mean it is suitable for human use. Medsafe warns that these claims do not make an unapproved peptide product safe or legal.

What if I have already used a product?

Tell a health professional the exact product, when you used it and any symptoms. Keep the packaging. If you are seriously unwell, call 111; for non-emergency health advice, call Healthline on 0800 611 116.
